Product Description

Angora Rabbit is docile and sociable, making them great family. They are well-known for being a friendly breed. As long as you handle your pet regularly, he will become a loving member of the family. Suited for adults who have time and patience to care for coat and special diet needs.

Size: English Angora rabbit is the smallest breed of the four ARBA recognized breeds. And it is the only rabbit breed which has hair covering it's eyes.

Temperament & Personality: These rabbits are intelligent creatures so if you train them, they will learn to come when called. You can also teach your rabbit some basic tricks. They are easy to toilet train, so you can teach them to go in just one area. This is especially helpful if you want to keep your rabbit loose around the house.

Activity Requirements: Rabbits like toys to play with balls, wooden blocks, cardboard tubes, twigs, branches, & pumice blocks are all excellent toys for your rabbits. The rabbits will chew on the toys so make sure it is safe as well as free from artificial colors & flavors. Providing rabbits with toys to chew provides the added benefit of helping keep the rabbits teeth trimmed. If you don't give your rabbit plenty to chew, his teeth can grow too long causing serious health problems requiring veterinary care. Time outside their cage in an exercise pen, run or hopping about the house will make a happier healthier rabbit.

Cage Requirements: Recommended cage 30″ deep by 36″ long by 24″ high or 24″ deep by 48″ long by 24″ high (a minimum of 7.5 square feet not including space occupied by food and water dishes).

Diet: Because Angoras are constantly producing silky soft wool they need a diet higher in protein than your average rabbit. They also need plenty of fresh greens, hay is critical to add roughage to their diet which helps prevent wool block. Despite the mess, hay should be provided in unlimited amounts free choice. No angora rabbit should ever be without access to fresh clean hay. A high quality pellets diet as well of 1/3 cup twice a day. A dry old fashioned oats (not quick cook), black oil sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, & barely can be fed once a week as a treat.

Grooming Requirements: This beed needs a lot of daily grooming and is required for the angora rabbit. A comb and a slicker brush will accomplish the task. Time and patience are a must. Learning how to groom an angora can mean life or death for your pet or show rabbit. Unless you are willing to dedicate this much time into keeping your rabbit happy and healthy, we do not recommend this breed.

Colors: agouti, broken, self, shaded, ruby-eye white and pointed white.

History: The Angora is said to have originated in Ankara (historically known as Angora), in present-day Turkey, and is known to have been brought to France in 1723. The Angora rabbit became a popular pet of the French royalty in the mid-18th century, and Angoras spread to other parts of Europe by the end of that century.
